A Day In The Life Of A Saltire Leader

Yesterday I was involved in interviews for a brilliant programme that helps find, fuel and spark the next generation of leaders for Scotland.

Entrepreneurial Scotland has been a vital partner in my personal development over the last 18 months. Attending the Conscious Leadership Catalyst was transformative in that it gave me the framework and language to use with my network and clients to explain the ideology that drives Fortro vision of a world where business leaders wield their power to create good in our global economic communities.

A fierce believer that we leaders have a duty to guide and inspire the next generation, this was an opportunity to make good on that belief.

The Saltire Programme team are running interviews over the coming weeks to assess applicants for its internship programme. I was paired with the fantastic Louise Palmer who was where the applicants were, just one year ago. She is now doing her Masters in Management and I have to say, she is smashing it.

As "seasoned" leaders, we have a part to play in sparking the next generation. In this case I gave 4 hours of my time. Such a simple thing to do but has an impact. Multiply that by the hours the other Interviewers and ambassadors are giving and you have quite a movement!!!

This is the second time I have been involved in the interviews and it's an easy way I can give back to an organisation that brought me an international network and welcomed me into their global alumni.

What do you, can you, and will you, do to bring on the next generation?
